Date: 1960s. Description: Hand carved wood plaque, OD green backing. Ranger Qualification Badge plaque, made in Vietnam. This was a piece brought back by a US advisor. It was said to have hung at the Duc My Training Center. The Ranger Qualification badge was awarded to soldiers who completed the intensive training of the ARVN Ranger program, and later served as a point of distinction between the traditional Ranger units and newer Border ranger units developed in the 1970s, many soldiers of whom from the latter had not undergone full Ranger training. |
