Republic of Vietnam National Police Metal Badge Beret

Dated: 1960-70s

Description: One piece, "high crowned", metal National Police badge. The metal National Police beret badge was identical to those worn on visor caps. Metal badged berets were more commonly worn by enlisted personnel, but were also worn by officers. The role of the National Police went well beyond the normal duties of a civil police force, functionally serving as another branch of the armed forces. National Police units were often the first on the scene in engagements, particularly in cities and population centers.
