Dated: 1960-70s Description:Saigon tailor markings, VNAF badge. Rank was denoted on VNAF visor caps through the adornment of bullion straps and wreaths on the bill. A plain visor cap, such as this, signified enlisted rank, but was also worn by officer cadets in the early stages of training. This particular cap began initially as a USAF cap, but was later modified for the VNAF by a tailor. Unlike other branches of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam, the VNAF employed a fraction of US military clothing. |
