National Police Camouflage Uniform

Dated: 1960s

Description: National Police Camouflage, 2 pocket shirt. The National Police camouflage pattern is unique among standard issue camouflage patterns of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam, being the only one in a brown/khaki "cloud" aesthetic. Likely inspired by the cloud/desert reversible side of the US Mitchell Pattern camouflage, this pattern was the staple fatigue for National Police units serving in counter-insurgency operations. The role of the National Police went well beyond the normal duties of a civil police force, functionally serving as another branch of the armed forces. National Police units were often the first on the scene in engagements, particularly in cities and population centers.
